Honey Whole Wheat Bread
- 4 cups whole wheat flour, divided 4-4 1/2 cups white flour
- 1/3 cup nonfat dry milk
- 1 T salt
- 2 pkg dry yeast
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 T shortening
Combine 3 cups whole wheatflour, dry milk, salt, and yeast in mixer bowl. Heat water, honey, and shortening in saucepan until warm. Pour warm (not hot) liquid over flour mixture. Beat with electric mixer for 3 minutes. Stir in remaining cup of whole wheat flour and all white flour.
Knead five minutes using additional white flour if necessary. Place in greased bowl, turn, and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and divide dough into three loaves. Place in 3 greased bread pans. Cover and let rise 40 to 45 minutes. Bake at 3750 for 40 to 45 minutes.
