Bavarian Apple Tart

Pastry:

  • 1/2 cup softened oleo
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 t vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour

Cream oleo and sugar in a small mixing bowl. Stir in vanilla and flour and mix well. Spread in bottom and 2 inches up the sides of a greased 9 inch spring-form pan.

Cheese Filling:

  • 1 8 oz pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg .
  • 1/2 t vanilla extract

Combine cream cheese and sugar; add egg and vanilla. Mix well. Spread evenly over pastry.

Apple Topping:

  • 4 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 t ground cinnamon

Place apples in mixing bowl. Coat well with sugar-cinnamon mixture. Arrange on top of cheese filling. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 400° and continue baking 25 minutes. Cool before removing from pan.
