Chocolate Cake
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sug ar
- 1 stick oleo
- 1/2 cup Crisco
- 4 T cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 t baking soda
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 t vanilla
Sift together flour and sugar, set aside. In a sauce pan combine oleo, Crisco, cocoa, and water. Bring to a boil and mix into dry ingredients. Add baking soda to buttermilk. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla to batter. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and ice immediately.
Icing:
- 1 stick oleo
- 4 T cocoa
- 6 T milk
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 1 t vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Bring oleo, cocoa, and milk to boil in a small saucepan. Add remaining ingredients and pour over cake.
