Coffee Cake
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 t salt
- 3 T shortening
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 egg, beaten
- Enough flour to make a stiff dough
- Cinnamon
- Sugar or brown sugar
- Butter
Heat milk. Mix sugar, salt, and shortening in mixing bowl. Pour milk over mixture. Cool to lukewarm and add yeast. Add egg. Mix in flour. Let rise in bowl until double in size. Stir and put into 2 greased 9 x 9" pans. Let rise one hour. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar or cinnamon and brown sugar. Dot with pats of butter. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.
