Stickies I
Syrup:
- 3/4 cup Grandma’s Molasses
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 T oleo
In 8 x 8" or 6 x 10" baking dish, mix ingredients. Heat in 350 degree oven while making dough.
Dough:
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 t salt
- 1 t baking powder
- 1/4 cup Crisco
- 1/2 cup milk
- Oleo
- Sugar
Sift together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder. Cut in Crisco and add milk to make dough. Roll dough to about 1/8" thickness. With sharp knife, carefully cut into 4" squares (9 for square dish, 8 for oblong). Onto each square place about 1 t oleo and 1 t sugar.
Bring opposite corners of each square together and pinch, leaving side slightly open. Drop into boiling syrup. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon, if desired. Bake at 350-375° about 15-20 minutes or until done. Syrup is very hot – handle with care! Dip stickies to serving plates with spoon.
I sometimes use Pioneer Baking Mix for dough. Use 1 1/2 cups mix, 2 T sugar, and about 1/2 cup milk.
