Preface

Preface

Sixty-eight pages of desserts. I wonder what that says about our family’s tastes. I’ve had the pleasure of working off and on (mostly off) on this cookbook for four years and every time I look through the recipies, I find something new and delicious (usually in the dessert section). My favorites are Aunt Ellen’s peanut brittle recipe ,and Uncle Allen’s ham recipe. I’ve never tried to cook either one, but they make great reading.

John keeps reminding me how special and rare a family like ours is – something I take for granted. I’m so thankful that Hunter and Saxon will have the opportunity to be a part of a thriving and growing family. I remember how much fun it was to go spend the night with Norann in the cabin. I still look forward to our family gatherings no matter where they are or what the excuse. (How many families do you know that would make a party out of cutting down a tree?)

I’m sure you’ll find mistakes within the recipies. I couldn’t try every one – although you’d think that in four years I’d have checked out a few more. This is a group experiment. You have to keep notes on changes and additions that need to be made for the second printing (sometime around the turn of the century).
